Lay With Me

May 9, 2004 "I wrote this one for a feminist poetry reading." Tonia Brown

Lay with me, as I cradle you in my arms
Gentle smiles, soft kisses on tiny hands
Your small life encircled in my love
As life flows from me to you
I am Goddess
Nurturing, Giving, Mother

Lay with me as I cradle you in my arms
Hot fire trailing blazing passion
Flesh pressing sweat into jewels of sin
As love flows from me to you
I am Goddess
Lover, Whore, Companion

Lay with me as I cradle you in my arms
Weak smiles looking up at me
Breaths drawn behind sterile mask
As compassion flows from me to you
I am Goddess
Nursing, Caring, Death

A woman will bear you
A woman will send you home

She is Goddess, as are you.
